If some readers do not know yet, the first major digital archive of guitar music is the Rischel & Birket-Smith Collection of the Royal Library of Denmark. The last items of the collection went online about 6 months ago. The Library of Congress has over 1000 items of guitar related material in their Music for the Nation website. The Music Library of Sweden, Royal Irish Academy of Music and Washington University in St. Louis, USA are also working on digitization projects.

Though I have already created a tool to ease download of the Rischel collection I called RIBS2, a more fully featured web version will show up here. It will be part of the Archive section of the site which is still under construction. Digital Guitar Archive will be a portal for searching multiple digital archives.

As the services go online we hope everyone will post feedback to help us create the best tool possible.

You are very welcome. With this new site I'll be able to provide a much wider variety of information as well as easier and more informative access. I have a tremendous amount I'm preparing, but it is not quite ready for the site. Lots will be going up in the next few months.

The advanced search page of the archive lists direct links to all sources in the database. Those links will take you to the library holding the GFA items.
