Bobrowicz Selected Works Volume I: Variations

Print News The Bobrowicz edition is very close to becoming available. As soon as it is the online shop will be open. In addition to being able to order the book, two free files can be downloaded through the store.

One is Zani de Ferranti's Divertissement sur trois Romances Anglaises favorites. This is the same work that appears in Marc Van de Cruys' The King's guitarist. This engraving was based on both early and later editions. Errors in both were corrected and the fingering from both editions is included.

The other free work is J.K. Mertz's Valse par Chopin. This engraving is based on a manuscript in the Rischel & Birket-Smith Collection.

The Bobrowicz edition contains the 10 known variation opuses in new engravings. There is a 9 page introduction in English and a 10 page version in Polish. The text by Kryzsztof Komarnicki is very fascinating and gives much new information on Bobrowicz' life and compositions.

A free preview of the edition is available here. Please feel free to pass this file on to friends or post on other websites.

The claim that this edition is the first to include all these works since the 19th century is simply not true. Already in 1984, they were published in Poland by Joseph Powrozniak, based on copies from the R&B-S collection I sent him then.
