Alphonse Meurger: Musician, Composer, Publisher

Published by Robert Coldwell on

I’m pleased to announce that I have published in a digital edition the monograph “Alphonse Meurger: Musician, Composer, Publisher” by Jan W.J. Burgers. It is a fascinating history of a musician’s life in the very early 19th century along with a detailed list of 173 prints of his songs. The research by Burgers sheds light on Meurger’s involvement with the popular music of the day and the efforts he undertook in publishing. It is a fascinating look into the process of printing journals, managing subscribers and setting up a distribution network for light songs with guitar or other musical accompaniment.
